WHAT ARE OPITO STANDARDS?
The OPITO standards are a set of training and/or competence standards, produced and agreed by the offshore oil and gas industry covering a variety of offshore emergency response duties and occupational roles.
WHAT IS OPITO’S ROLE?
- Setting up a workgroup – to decide the exact content of a standard, its purpose, learning outcomes, facilities requirements, staffing levels and equipment
- Drafting the standard – which undergoes extensive consultation to ensure it meets the agreed requirements of the industry
- Being custodian of the standard - training providers are invited to apply for approval to deliver the standards
- Providing regular reviews – to make sure the contents are comprehensive and applicable
